Meet Miriah

Miriah Ikemiyashiro, LCSW, works as the resident therapist for the West Valley City Police Department.  She works with the police force to identify and treat different trauma responses within the officers themselves, and create a culture of resilience and strong  mental health practices.   She also works with families and spouses, mostly through seminars, to support the families behind the badges.  She has experience working with military and law enforcement in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and is well versed in multiple trauma treatment modalities.  Miriah's therapeutic style strives to empower individuals with understanding and techniques to better master their own mind, increase their quality of life, and learn how to work through incredibly difficult and stressful life experiences in a healthy way.   She has been recognized by the Fraternal Order of Police for furthering the cause of Officer Wellness.

Miriah did her undergraduate degree at Utah State University, and her master's program at Arizona State University, where she graduated summa cum laude from both programs.  She grew up in Northern Wyoming and has lived in Utah for the past 20 years.  She is a mother of three teenagers and married to what she calls a "tactical genius" at Unified Police Department.   For all of these reasons and more...Miriah is exhausted and relies on caffeine and patriotism most days.
